Beer drinking goes on at many more festivals than the ones dedicated to beer, but here are events specifically about the drink itself. Due to local laws, many microbreweries cannot
serve their beer outside their local area. To sample the large variety of beers that cannot come to us, we must go to them! Imagine spending a vacation week going from one beer festival to
another, sampling hundreds of beers. Most beer festivals involve live music.
Food and Witblits Festival - in Prince Albert, Western Cape, South Africa, in August; celebrate ‘white
lightening’ (moonshine); activities are organised around the Witblits still at the Fransie Pienaar Museum, where our
local distillers show you how Karoo ‘firewater’ is made – and you can taste the products; local musicians perform; a puppet show; gardens and orchards; story-teller: hear tales from the
district; enjoy a little drink and then meet the ghosts of Prince Albert on our ghost walk in the evening - local spirits
of a different kind!
Bruxellensis Festival - in Saint-Gilles; in September; presents beers and various Belgian breweries which are not too
sweet and fruity
Festival of Very Special Beers (Karakterbier Festival) - in Poperinge; in October; 60 Flemish local beers with a special aroma
Gambrinus Beer Truck Festival - in Philippeville; in July; the museum is in a former maltings-brewery-farm buildings of the
19th century
Hop Festival in Val de Sambre - in September; music, guided tours of the brewery, hot-air balloon rides, and craft
exhibitions
Internationale hoppefeesten (International Hop Festival) - in Poperinge, September 16 - 18, 2005 (every 3rd year on the 3rd
Sunday of September); the hop capital of Belgium; features a parade and election of a Hops Queen; the hop pageant recreates the history of hops through various activities, with harvest and hops from
around the world. The newly elected hop queen and her German colleague in horse drawn carriages finish the parade with a touch of elegance. Fireworks close the festive weekend.

18 nationally renowned Blues Bands; late night blues clubs; unique food and craft market; after hours jam; free acoustic artist series; 4-day acoustic blues camp; area just for kids; "Blues for
Breakfast" Saturday and Sunday; free gondola rides; and acoustic blues competition

Spitoono - in Clemson, August 24 - 27, 2006; the Redneck Performing Arts Association sponsors this festival featuring redneck contests
